Our Port A kittens need names! This is a "fun"draiser to help cover the vetting costs of our bottle babies. $5 gets your chosen pair of names in the hat to be randomly selected the morning of May 8th. We will announce the winner and kittens' names on social media!

Meet our first two bottle babies of the 2021 kitten season!

Quite a miracle trip these two siblings took in the underbelly of an RV. We believe they were born in San Antonio at an RV storage facility inside someone's parked RV. When the family came to jump in their RV and head to Port Aransas, little did they know the kittens were in the underside of their rig. Once they parked in Port A, their neighbors immediately heard the kittens crying. A group of good samaritans spent the next few hours cutting open the RV to rescue these two tiny kittens who didn't even have their eyes open yet. The rescuers found our rescue online and contacted us. We had Erin and Matt, our neonatal foster experts, talk them through a few days of feeding until the babies could be brought to our office. We immediately gave them to Erin and Matt, who with their years of kitten rearing knowledge, gave them a great chance of survival without a real Mom.

Baby girl and boy arrived in great shape at 147 grams (M) and 139 grams (F), baby girl decided to open her eyes first!

Matt and Erin do feedings every few hours - even throughout the night too! They stimulate her to pee and poop as their mother would have. They’re also weighing them meticulously and weighing their formula and adjusting the meals on a curve. We estimate a kittens like this will cost over $250 each to get ready for adoption. Our adoption fees are $100. See our costs below to get an idea of what it takes to raise a bottle baby (not including the incubator!):

Foster supplies for kittens like these normally include: lots of Breeders Edge Formula, bottles, Miracle Nipples, cotton swabs, saline drops, gloves, disinfectant, comfort stuffed animal with a heart beat, paper towels, laundry detergent, thermometer, digital scale, nail clippers, heating pad, linens, Royal Canin wet kitten food, Royal Canin dry kitten food, toys, beds and litter. = Well over $100 per kitten

Vet care for a kitten like this normally includes at a minimum: vet exam, deworming, Revolution flea preventative, 3 rounds of FVRCP vaccines, Rabies vaccine, microchip, fecal float if needed, eye salve and spay/neuter surgery (some kittens require much more if they have ringworm, injuries or other issues). = Well over $100 per kitten

We will randomly draw from the pairs of names you submit on the morning of May 8th, 2021 and post our winner on social media. So start your creative thinking for this duo. Beachy names like Fish and Chips, RV names like Dinghy and King Pin, Port A names like Pelican and Tarpon? You can submit as many pairs of names as you can dream up for $5 each pair.
